This sampler disc allows players to try out the Xbox 360 port of Squaresoft’s first massively multiplayer game. With FFXI, the legendary Final Fantasy series embarked on an entirely new adventure where players from around the world are able to join forces for an online RPG quest. Players from around the world control the fate of the world of Vana’diel as they volunteer for missions to defend its nations and people.
For the Xbox 360 release, Square issued this beta demo discs to sample the game and stress-test the 360 integration. The Japanese beta (given out bundled with the system in Japan) went live on December 10, 2005. The North American beta (issued with the February issue of Official Xbox Magazine) went live on January 5, 2006. The UK version (released with Issue 04 of OXM360) became available January 12, 2006.
