TGS 09: Steins;Gate Hands-on

There’s always at least one wacky game on display at the Tokyo Game Show that you can’t make heads or tails of. This year, that game — if it even is a game — for me is one Steins;Gate. This Japanese language heavy title was on show at the Microsoft booth, tucked into a corner and surrounded by several people willing to explain everything there is to know about it…in a language I couldn’t understand.
I’m not actually sure Steins;Gate is a game. It may just be an interactive graphic novel. I played the demo for about 10 minutes and never made it past a series of screens with text and limited voiceovers. Here’s what I could gather: First, a girl is introduced. She goes to a store and talks a little bit with a faceless stranger. Then she goes to school before going up to a rooftop where there is what looks like a lunar lander. Finally, she goes back to the shop and buys a capsule from a vending machine. Occasionally, her eyes get wide and she gasps.
The only English to be found was on a little promotional flyer handed to me. See if you can make sense of it.

It can be said that this is a final ultimatum from the god to the people who can fight.
So there you have it. If you know Japanese fluently, you can look to import this perfect way to confuse English speakers when it releases on October 15.
